Backing up Bookmarks, Favorites and Address Book.
Internet Explorer (IE)
Internet Explorer stores Favorites on the hard drive of your computer
- Goto C:\Documents and Settings\username\ on your hard drive, where username is your login username.
- Copy 'Favorites' folder to your U: drive, a floppy disk, a CD etc.
Mozilla Firefox

Open Firefox browser
- Select 'Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks' form window menu
- Select 'File -> Export'
- Select a location to save 'bookmarks.html'. This contains your Firefox bookmarks.
Thunderbird
Thunderbird stores your Address Book on the hard disk.
- GotoC:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\ where username is your login username.
- This folder contains profiles of all users that use Thunderbird on the computer.
If there is only one folder, this will be your profile, open it.
If there are a number of folders (profiles) open the one that has your username somewhere in its name.
If there are a number of profiles that have your username, open the latest one.
- Your address book is stored in a file called: abook.map
- Copy this file to your U: drive, a floppy disk, a CD etc.

Note that the methods below can also be used to transfer your bookmarks and address book from your work computer to your home computer and vice versa.
Internet Explorer (IE)
Copy your backed up 'Favorites' folder to C:\Documents and Settings\username\on your hard drive, where username is your login username. Note: This will overwrite your current Favorites folder.
Mozilla Firefox

Open Firefox browser
- Select 'Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks' form window menu

Select 'File -> Import'

Select 'From File' option, click 'Next'.
- Goto location where your 'bookmarks.html' is backed up. click 'Open'.
Thunderbird
Thunderbird stores your Address Book on the hard disk.
- Close Thunderbird (if running)
- Goto C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\ where username is your login username.
- This folder contains profiles of all users that use Thunderbird on the computer.
If there is only one folder, this will be your profile, open it.
If there are a number of folders (profiles) open the one thathas your username somewhere in its name.
If there are a number of profiles that have your username, open the latest one.
- Copy your backed up address book file: abook.map into this folder.
NOTE: this will overwrite your current address book, you may want to back this up before replacing.
- Restart Thunderbird and check your Address Book is correct.
