Lotus Notes Migration

TSG's Desktop Services and Infrastructure and Major Projects have been migrated and are currently testing the features of Lotus Notes from the Faculty's perspective.

Q3/Q4 2008 - IT support staff across the faculty will be migrated.

Q2/Q3 2009 - Faculty wide rollout will begin.

Lotus Notes is one of the new suite of communication and collaboration tools are coming to Monash as part of the ICE (Integrated Collaboration Environment) program.

The Integrated Collaboration Environment (ICE) team is pleased to announce that the Lotus Notes rollouts have recommenced following a return of extended stability to the Server environment.

• Upgrades of the Server Operating System
• Upgrades to the Domino Server versions
• The implementation of new faster storage technology
• The movement of about 10 per cent of users onto a separate server.  Some staff had been migrated to the Lotus Notes Domino server, but were using an application (ie Thunderbird) other than Lotus Notes to access their email via Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP)  

Other features required by the Faculty that are now available include:

• Local mail migration
• PDA support - including iPhones
• OSX Client
• Calendar rooms and resourcews

Planned Faculty migration: Q3/Q4 2010 -  (PENDING FUNDING AND APPROVAL BY FACULTY).
