External Account - Hybrid Directory Service

The purpose of the Hybrid Directory Service (HDS) is to provide an easy mechanism for external users to be given limited access to restricted Monash information and services.

What the HDS allows external users access to

The HDS allows an external user access to the following Monash resources:

  • Access to the Faculty Jobdesks
  • Access to the Internet while on the Monash Campus (using computers registered for use on the Monash network)
  • Access to the MNHS Storage Server
  • Certain areas of the Faculty Wiki server
  • Certain areas of the my.monash portal
  • Specified collabra discussion groups
  • Specified web based materials

What you need to do to get a guest into the HDS

The Department will need to contact their local IT Support team and log a request in Jobdesk providing the following information about the guest user:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Personal title (Prof, Assoc Prof, Dr, Mrs, Mr, Ms)
  • Job/position title
  • Account expiry date (please note that all accounts will automatically expire on 30 June and 31 December -- if you want access after these dates, you will need to arrange to have them extended.)
  • Contact email address for correspondence

How to change a password for external accounts

If a user forgets their password, they will need to contact their Medicine Monash collaborator who can log a Jobdesk request with the following information:

  • Account Name (login name)
  • Contact email address for correspondence
