Undergraduate Overview

Undergraduate Educational Programme The Department of Surgery at the Alfred Hospital contributes to teaching in all years of the Medical Undergraduate Programme. In particular, the members of the Department of Surgery have a significant commitment in clinical teaching for 4th and 5th year undergraduate students. In 5th year medical students have an 8 week block of surgical teaching which is coordinated through the Department of Surgery. This is conducted in association with a number of clinical departments within the Alfred Hospital, in particular, the Departments of Radiology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics at the Alfred. There is also a major contribution by the William Buckland Radiotherapy Centre and the Alfred Hospital Trauma Service.
