Rural Placement - MilduraStudents will be based in Mildura and will visit health services in Mildura, Robinvale, Dareton and Ouyen. Site DescriptionMildura is a town of around 24,000 people and is located on the Murray River in Northern Victoria. It is approximately 550kms, 6 hours drive or 1-¼ hours flight from Melbourne. Mildura is often referred to as an oasis in the desert as the Murray and its paddlesteamers, lush golf course and other attractions are a welcome site after many kilometres of consistently dry brown terrain and wheat fields. Whilst the irrigated areas immediately surrounding Mildura are rich with produce such as wine and table grapes, dried fruit, citrus, stone fruits and vegetables, a little further out there are kilometres of dry land generally used for broad acre farming, cereal crops and lamb and wool production. Mildura's climate and facilities are perfect for outdoor sporting and recreation all year round. The range of facilities within Mildura includes sporting fields, ovals, parks and gardens for active or passive recreation and a wide range of clubs such as: angling, archery, ballooning, callisthenics, canoeing, climbing, pony clubs, scuba diving and much more. Also within the boundaries of the Mildura Rural City Council is 40% of Victorias National Parks, including Murray Sunset, Big Desert, Wyperfield and Hattah Kulkyne and of course the beautiful Murray River. The average August temperature is 17°C Max with the average annual rainfall around 268mm. ContactMs Vicki Dane, Phone: 03 5018 8777 |
