Office of Research

The Monash University School of Rural Health undertakes fundamental, applied and clinical multidisciplinary research designed to bring about improvements in the health and wellbeing of residents of rural, remote and regional communities.

The research strategy for the School targets the national research priority areas  promoted by the Australian Government. A major focus of the rural health research program is to undertake evidence-based research to inform government policy and programs - particularly in the areas of rural health workforce and sustainable health service provision, medical education, social determinants of health and rural community development - and on other projects which are directly relevant to rural communities.

The School of Rural Health also maintains strong research collaborations with the State and Commonwealth governments, university departments of rural health, and a broad range of health service providers, professional organisations and community stakeholder groups. A strongly emerging post-graduate research program  complements the research activity of the School.
