Mollie has completed a Master of Rural Health (Research) looking at the Nature and Scope of Bush Nursing Practice. Her current research interest is in Interprofessional Collaboration and Evidence-based practice and it’s application into practice. Mollie holds a Master of Rural Health (Research), a Graduate Diploma in Business (Management) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Advanced Nursing). Mollie coordinates the interprofessional Collaboration Team at MUDRIH and leads the Placement, Education & Research Unit (PERU) in Latrobe Community Health Service where the unit focuses on students placements and facilitates education and research for staff.
Mollie’s professional affiliations include the immediate past-secretary of the International Council of Nurses, Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing network (INP/APNN) – for eight years, and was an advisory board member for the re-development of the International Rural and Remote Nurses Network (IRRNN). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing (FRCNA), a member of Sigma Theta Tau International (Alpha Chi Chapter) and was secretary of the previous Association for Australian Rural Nurses and Midwives (AARNM) for eight years.

Mollie’s professional affiliations include secretary of the ICN International Nurse Practitioner /Advanced Practice Nursing (INP/APNN) network, a member of the Core Steering Group for the ICN Rural & Remote Nurses network (ICN RRNN) and secretary of the Association for Australian Rural Nurses (AARN) Victorian Network. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing (FRCNA) and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International (Alpha Chi Chapter).
Teaching Commitments
Currently I do not have a teaching load due to my study commitments but I am part of the team developing a new Post Graduate Multi-Disciplinary Unit for 2006. I am also a member of the Advisory and Management Committee’s for the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Rural Nursing Practice or Double Degree.

Details of Thesis
This study (VRNP2) was an extension of the original study into the Victorian Rural Nursing Workforce (VRNP1). VRNP2 looked at the rural nursing environment and was called the Victorian Rural Nurse Project Advanced Practice Nursing: a Bush Nursing Perspective. This was an Action Research study involving bush nurses and their communities in East Gippsland. The study explored client satisfaction, bush nurse satisfaction, bush nursing clinical practice categories and competencies, bush nurses experiences, client health outcomes and the nature and scope of the bush nursing role.
