Studying in Bendigo

Clinical training

Bendigo offers Year 3, 4 and 5 students a clinical experience unmatched by metropolitan placements.

In Years 3 and 5 you’ll spend most of your week at the hospital with hospital staff and tutors. If you want more experience, you can access the hospital after hours to do theatre or emergency. Staff are happy to mentor students who want to extend themselves.

In Year 4, you’ll be placed with practitioners in the Bendigo area.

The hospital gives you exposure to emergency, surgery, maternity and paediatric services, critical care, radiology, pathology, and psychiatric and aged care.

Bendigo Trauma Day

A large part of your clinical training is structured, to make sure you gain the experience and exposure you need. PBLs, tutorials and skills workshops are timetabled. So are ‘added extras’ such as pharmacology, extended ECG, ophthalmology and patient clinics.

Each year during a second semester study week, we bring speakers form Melbourne. This week culminates in an ABC trauma day complete with simulated patients
