Bachelor of Psychology and Business

The Bachelor of Psychology and Business (BPsychBus) is designed primarily for students who wish to apply psychological training to work in a business environment.

The degree is a joint initiative by the School of Psychology, Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Business and Economics.

The BPsychBus is offered at the Peninsula, Gippsland and Sunway (Malaysia) campuses, and by off-campus learning

Why combine psychology and business?

Businesses are increasingly recognising the valuable contribution psychologists can make to their organisations. Psychologists primarily focus on helping businesses deal with people issues. They use particular tools and techniques to improve how businesses select their staff; design and shape the culture of their organisations; design jobs; help develop employee satisfaction and motivation; implement and evaluate leadership and training programs; provide career development.

Career opportunities

A vast range of careers open for people with qualifications in both business and psychology. Research suggests that job opportunities for both business and psychology graduates are growing.

Careers might include organisational psychologist; human resources manager, industrial relations consultant, market researcher, public policy advisor, training and development coordinator, international business manager. There are many other possibilities.

Note: A career in psychology will require further study and training after completion of the Bachelor of Psychology and Business. See the Registration as a psychologist and Further study sections of this web page.

What will I study?

Students will study 24 units in this degree. These include the ten-unit major in psychology accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council, core business units, and an eight-unit business major offered at the campus at which you are enrolled.
