Dr. Penelope HaskingBiographyI recently joined Monash after completing a PhD at the University of Queensland in 2003. While the focus of my early research was on the cognitive and behavioural determinants of drinking, my research interests have since become quite diverse. My interest in self-injury began as an undergraduate student, however a recent collaboration with the University of Queensland has provided me with the opportunity to conduct research in this exciting area. In 2004 my attention was drawn to the relationship between childhood animal cruelty and later interpersonal violence, and I have since developed an interest in how engaging in or witnessing childhood animal cruelty affects the psychological development of children.
