Research Interests

I pride myself in my ability to transpose established psychological paradigms into applied domains. The outcomes of my research are typically of a high quality, as shown by the large numbers of publications in books and internationally refereed journals. I am interested in the effects that variables such as stress or disease have upon the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of human decisions and performance in a variety of applied domains, for example: graphical user interfaces; e-commerce; ageing; handwriting; gambling behaviour. I have a broad range of interests in the applied domain, and have even done courses in hypnosis and magic, with the overall issue linking all these interests being that of human skill.
