Textbook ‘Mental Health in Australia: Collaborative Community Practice 2e’

The second edition of this major textbook was published in early 2007 and is extended to 700 pages. Coordinating contributions and editorial work involving 60 authors and over 300 000 words of material was a major task of 2005-6. Strengths of this text in its first edition have been that it used Australian information and perspectives as relevant at National and State levels in a way accessible, readable and relevant to the practitioner.

The new edition has:

  • Case studies, examples and vignettes demonstrating realities of day-to-day clinical practice.
  • A new co-editor, Dr Margaret Grigg, brings nursing perspective to the text.
  • Cross referencing is improved throughout.
  • A specific chapter on coverage of therapeutic and rehabilitation skills is introduced.
  • A new chapter on early intervention is introduced.
  • Additional information features on clinical mental health care in old age.
  • Additional information on the Non-Government Organisation (NGO) sector and mental health services advocacy bodies, gives a broader, more comprehensive overview of the industry.
