Needs Analysis

Development of the training program was informed by a comprehensive needs assessment, consisting of three components:

  1. Focus group discussions and consultation meetings with:
    • Executive Officers / Managers of Primary Care Partnerships (PCPs);
    • Managers of Primary Mental Health and Early Intervention Teams (PMH&EITs);
    • Managers of Community Health Counselling Services;
    • Consumers, families and friends, and
    • Other relevant stakeholder groups such as staff of Divisions of General Practice, School Focused Youth Service Coordinators and Mental Health Promotion Officers.

    • Meetings with key informants from key services including peak bodies, lead/statewide services and relevant government departments;

    • Consultations with local groups of providers and other stakeholders in order to tailor training to specific local needs and circumstances.
