A thorough evaluation of the effectiveness of the MAP
training program is an essential component of this project.
The project includes an evaluation to determine the
effectiveness of the MAP training program by assessment
of the influence of training on participants' knowledge,
attitudes and/or skills, and to determine whether these
changes are maintained in the long-term. Assessment
of the change in participant's knowledge, skills and
attitudes in mental health issues will provide invaluable
information about the impact of the training program.
This evaluation will contribute to the knowledge base
in the development of training programs and the unique
needs of the community-based primary care sector.
Participants in the MAP training were invited to
participate in the evaluation by completing a series
of voluntary and confidential questionnaires about their
experiences with and attitudes to depression and related
disorders. Questionnaires were administered prior
to the start of training, at the completion of training,
and will also be administered at 6 and 12 months following training.
All participation is voluntary and confidentiality
is maintained at all times.
