Associate Professor Steven Ellen

Associate Professor Steven Ellen has been Head of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Unit and Consultant Psychiatrist at The Alfred Hospital since 2000. His interest include HIV Psychiatry, Trauma Psychiatry and psychiatry in primary care settings. Steve is both a clinician and researcher in these areas. His other research interest has been Neuroimaging in psychiatry, and he has completed a major research project investigating benzodiazepine receptors using positron emission tomography and MRI in anxiety disorders. Steve contributes to a range of committees within the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and provides advice to a range of non-government and government bodies regarding mental health and service provision.
