What does this mean for you?
The Registry is an important tool to ensure the quality and safety of bariatric procedures that are being performed across Australia. We would ask you to encourage surgeons at your site to participate, especially as participation is recommended by OSSANZ as a part of the Obesity Surgery Standards that were circulated to all hospital credentialing committees in 2012.
We would ask that each hospital identify an appropriate lead person who will be responsible for returning completed forms from the operating suite. We will work directly with that person to ensure this process is as painless as possible! We will also recognise their contribution formally annually.
We would also require a list of ICD 10 codes on a regular basis from your medical records department. Again, our staff will work with you to ensure this task is not onerous.
