National Institute of Hospital Management
National Institute of Hospital Management (NIHM) was established on 18th August 1991, which administratively reports to Ministry of Health of China. The NIHM is a leader of Chinese hospital network, which closely collaborates with central and local health department.
Its main duties include undertaking hospital management research, training management personnel, collecting and processing information, providing documents or consultation for government departments. It works had for being a direction and consultation service centre in national hospital management area. The detailed duties are:
- Science research
- Strategy research on hospital and medical development
- Research on medical service system, hospital community, family health service, hospital and primary health care
- Research on medical service related policy, regulation, plan and standard
- Research on hospital quality assurance and its affective factor
- Research on analysis of hospital operation management together with cost and benefit
- Research on hospital building and equipment management
- Research on hospital fund raising and usage
- Research on collection, statistic and application of hospital data
- Training hospital management personnel
- Build medical and health information centre to undertake information consultant service
- International cooperation and academic communication in national and international wide
Up to now National Institute of Hospital Management has held 88 cohorts of short training, covering 6000 trainees of health bureau directors, hospital presidents and other managers. The trainings focus on hospital division management, medical quality management, operation management, building and equipment management, hospital data information management, undertake medical organisation regulation. The trainers include the related directors, section chiefs, project officers from Ministry of Health and Traditional Medicine Bureau, professors from medical university management department, as well as the director and research head of NIHM.
