Peking University Second hospital (Renmin Hospital)

Peking University Renmin Hospital was named Central Hospital, which was established in 1918 and the first self built comprehensive hospital. In April 2002, the hospital was renamed as Peking University Renmin Hospital.

The hospital was not big when established. After Pacific War, the famous internal medicine and tropical disease professor from Peking Xiehe College and several other famous experts come to develop the hospital. After liberation, the hospital’s dimension had been developed further. Now the hospital totally occupies more than 100,000 square meters and has 1020 beds. It undertakes big amount of medical treatments, educations and researches.

 The hospital has 2351 staff, 91 medical sections, as well as Blood Disease Institute, Arthritis Research Centre and Liver Disease Institute. In 2005 it treated 1193687outpatients and 109403 patients. Bed occupied rate was 90.1% and general hospitalized dates was 13.1. Every medical indicator was in leading position of capital hospitals. Among the 2351 staff there are 270 professors with middle or high title, 1 China academician, 39 doctoral supervisors and 141 master supervisors. Many professors have high reputation in nation or world wide.

The hospital emphasizes on quality management and enhances medicine management. Medical Quality Management Committee, Pathology Committee, Medicine Management Committee, and Patient Record Management Committee have been established to ensure medical quality improvement.

As an education hospital, Renmin Hospital is undertaking the undergraduate clinical education for PKU Medical Treatment Faculty, Stomatology Faculty, Clinical Pathology Faculty and Nursing, also doctoral and postgraduate education, as well as advanced training for doctors in nation wide. Now there are 39 doctoral supervisors, 19 doctoral sites, 4 post doctoral station, 141 Master supervisors.
