Professor Farzad Sharifian
Prof. Sharifian has a wide range of research interests including cultural linguistics, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, second language acquisition, world Englishes, language and politics, and intercultural communication. He is the author of Cultural Conceptualisations and Language: Theoretical Framework and Applications (John Benjamins, 2011), the editor (with Gary B. Palmer) of Applied Cultural Linguistics (2007, John Benjamins), the editor (with René Dirven, Ning Yu and Susanne Niemeier) of Culture, Body and Language (2008, Mouton de Gruyter, Belin/NewYork), and the editor of English as an International Language (2009, Multilingual Matters, UK). He has published numerous articles in more than 20 international journals and has received multiple awards for his research and postgraduate supervision, including Edith Cowan University's Research Medal and Award for Excellence in Early Career Research of the Year (2008), Faculty of Arts, Monash University.
