The Cultural Conceptualisations of Ageing Program (CCAP)

CCAP is concerned with studying the effects of culture upon conceptualisations of healthy ageing and how these affect health behaviours and health and aged care service usage. Our current studies employ a model of ‘cultural conceptualisations’ to explore the ways in which patients and consumers understand healthy ageing and successful ageing. Our project is validating the concepts of healthy and successful ageing in Anglo, Greek, Italian and Chinese Australians and we are examining whether there are significant cultural variations. Data has been collected in China and in Melbourne and study cohorts will soon be collected in Singapore and Malaysia.
