Profile:
Jennifer McConachy, BBSc (Latrobe), BSW (Latrobe) MSW (Monash) joined the Department in May 2008. She currently teaches family work, skills development and is the Distance Education coordinator for fieldwork and course work. As well as her formal educational achievements, she has also undertaken studies in the area of mediation and workplace assessment and training. She has worked in the Victorian Department of Human Services in the areas of policy and programme development for out-of-home care services for children and families involved with child protection; family violence and early intervention with children who demonstrate delayed development. She has also worked in the areas of in-patient aged mental health, foster care, family preservation and reunification for clients of child protection, family counselling and child and adolescent mental health. She has also developed a particular interest in the area of kinship care as a form of out-of-home care and has undertaken some research on this important topic as part of her MSW studies.
