Fundamental principles of social inclusion underpin all health professions in all environments – clinical, research and educational. By upholding these values we help our staff and students to reach their full potential.
We aim to show leadership in applying the University’s policies by supporting staff and students with disabilities, promoting equal opportunity for women in the workplace, and fostering diversity and equity of access for students entering the faculty. We welcome students from around the world and from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds, a cultural diversity that greatly enriches our faculty.
Monash University promotes a safe and healthy work environment through its policies and programs and the work of its committees (visit the full list of policies, programs, committee structures and drafts of new policies at the homepage of the Monash Equity and Diversity Centre ).
The Social Inclusion Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences was established in 2010 to replace the Equity and Diversity Committee. Its new name reflects the current structure and values of University committees. The faculty’s Social Inclusion Committee is chaired by Associate Professor Robin Bell – Deputy Director of the Women’s Health Program and Associate Dean (Clinical, Allied and Public Health). It also includes representatives from faculty schools, and from among academic staff, general staff, and postgraduate and undergraduate students.
