Monash Scholarships
Research departments within the School of Biomedical Sciences may offer a number of summer scholarships to second and/or third year students studying in their discipline. The aim of these scholarships is to encourage students who may be considering a research career in biomedical sciences and to foster the development of practical laboratory research skills. The scholarships are for $250 per week and typically cover a four to eight week period. Eligibility for scholarships is usually on a competitive academic basis that may be restricted to academic performance in second and/or third year discipline specific units.
Selected students will undertake a short research project, to be carried out over the summer vacation.
Application for summer scholarships should be directed to the relevant department. Application forms and further details for summer scholarships are available from departmental websites. Please note that application dates will vary from department to department but are usually due in October of each year.

External Scholarships
A number of external research foundations also offer summer vacation scholarships. The usual process for application is for students to speak to school staff working in the research area of the particular foundation. You will be able to find this information by using the internet. Each Department in the School of Biomedical Sciences provides information about the research areas of its staff on its research web pages which can be accessed from the homepage of each department. Some examples of funding bodies who award summer scholarships are given below.
