Strategic initiative and education grantsThe Education Committee of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SOBSEC) has established a fund to support (A) strategic initiatives in education and (B) professional development of School staff engaged in educational activities. (A) Staff members who wish to propose strategic initiatives should contact Phillip Nagley or Yvonne Hodgson for preliminary discussions prior to making a formal proposal which will be considered by the School Education Committee. (B) Staff who wish to seek some financial support for specific education-related activities (e.g. participation in national or international conferences or workshops focusing on education, or for visits to other institutions to work on specific educational projects) should submit an application of up to 2 pages to Yvonne Hodgson in the SOBS office. The application should provide personal details, the nature of the professional development, and any other relevant information that would strengthen the case for support. Applications must also indicate a budget for the proposed activity, identifying anticipated expenses and any other support attained. It is anticipated that departmental, or other support, at least matching SOBSEC fund would be provided. SOSBEC has set a limit of $1,500 per person for an international professional development activity or conference and $500 for a national activity or conference. The closing date for applications will 30 June 2008, 30 September 2008 and 31 December 2008. Download grant application form (doc, 40kb)
