Dr Jo Drummond
Medical Product Specialist (Travel Vaccines) - GlaxoSmithKline
As a Medical Product Specialist with GlaxoSmithKline, Dr Drummond works in Medical Affairs where she provides medical information for marketing and communication purposes.
Dr Drummond began her science career as an academic but decided to move into the pharmaceutical industry for more stability.
She completed her B.Sc. (Hons) at University of Melbourne and then did a PhD (Neuroscience).
Dr Drummond worked in Postdoctoral Research at University of Melbourne and then as an overseas Postdoctoral Research Fellow for 2 yrs at Georgia State University, Atlanta US.
Following working in research, Dr Drummond began working as a GP representative with AstraZeneca. She found that the work, make use of her scientific skills and had a very strong sales focus. After a year, she started working as a Hospital Specialist Representative still with AstraZeneca. Dr Drummond enjoyed the role and remained in it for 4 years because she was working with medical specialists and using her scientific knowledge.
Dr Drummond has been in her current role with GlaxoSmithKline since October 2005 and really loves her job.
