Inflammatory Diseases

The Centre for Inflammatory Diseases is engaged in research designed to unravel the pathogenesis of human chronic inflammatory diseases. The Centre is recognised as an area of Research Strength within Monash University and currently receives over $2.4m of NHMRC funding p.a.

The research program of the Centre consists of the following broadly overlapping themes:

• Theme 1 : Mechanisms of nephritogenic immune responses and renal injury
• Theme 2 : Glucocorticoid-induced molecules in the control of inflammation and arthritis
• Theme 3 : Proinflammatory roles for coagulation proteins and their receptors
• Theme 4 : Control of leukocyte recruitment and microvascular permeability during inflammation
• Theme 5 : Mechanisms of liver fibrosis
• Theme 6 : Asthma, inflammation and viral infections
• Theme 7 : Autoimmunity
• Theme 8 : Respiratory infection
• Theme 9 : Innate immunity and infection
• Theme 10 : Inflammation in type 2 diabetes and its complications
