The Masters program in the Department of Medicine Southern Clinical School at Monash Medical Centre caters for medical, science and biomedical science students seeking their first experience of postgraduate research.

These programs form an excellent basis for subsequent PhD and the track record of graduates of these programs are second to none.

The PhD program is large, well established and highly successful. Students from science and medical backgrounds have completed PhD's in this Department in a range of disciplines. Enrolment through Monash University is required but PhD students complete all their work on site at the Medical Centre laboratories.

Many areas of research for both Masters and PhD studies are available in the Department of Medicine (MMC) including:

• Hepatic disease
• Neuroscience
• Renal disease
• Respiratory disease
• Rheumatoid arthritis

The opportunity to perform cutting-edge bioscientific research in a teaching hospital context, providing contact with clinical researchers and with clinicians and other health workers, is an unique one.
