
Paediatrics is a specialist field for the medical needs of infants through to adolescents. Professionals in this field hold academic qualifications, and have an in-depth understanding of the specific needs of children. Service delivery is undertaken with consideration of maturational changes of children. It is also required that professionals have an awareness of, and a commitment to, various legal issues that must be adhered to in this field of medical health. The Department of Paediatrics offers education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, research opportunities and pre-internship opportunities. The course is a practical introduction to Paediatric Medicine and Surgery and includes the management of common illness and disease in neonates, infants, children and adolescents.
