Monash Specific Information

MyMonash Portal

The Monash Portal is a customizable web page that allows easy access to parts of the monash web site that are most relevant to you. It can be accessed at:

Web Based Email

If you do not have Netscape Messenger configured for your account (perhaps because you share a computer) or if you are away from your computer, you can check your email from anywhere that has Web access. The Web client is located at:

http://mail.monash.edu.au/

MMS Calendar

The Calendar is an online personal organiser, it allows other people using the calendar to request meetings with you, and see when you are available. It also allows the online booking of resources (such as meeting rooms). Information regarding the calendar can be found at:

ITS Staff page

The ITS staff page has information covering all aspects of the monash network that apply to staff. If you have a query you might want to check here and see if you can find the information you're looking for.

Modem Access

Downtime

The Downtime list contains a listing of any computer services that are currently not functioning or experiencing problems. It is designed more for technical staff but it is available for general staff to view:

Software

The Monash SOE lists all software which is available to the university under a site licence and can therefore be install on any University computer:

Virus Information

Sophos (among others) have web pages that list the latest virus threats. If you wish to find out more information about a given computer virus, or about new ones:

If you recieve an email warning you about a virus, you might want to also look at Sophos's list of virus hoaxes to see if the warning is genuine or not. Please do not forward on virus warnings, real or not, if a virus is dangerous enough to warrant a warning the Network Manager will send an email warning to all staff.
