What is the hybrid network; what services are available?

The Hybrid is a shared network between Monash University and Southern Health, it provides full monash access as per the normal network and limited Southern Health network access

What applications are available on hybrid network?

  • Full Monash Access
  • Southern Health
    • Southern Health Intranet
    • Pathology reports
    • Management reports
    • Staff Directory

How can I request access?

Requirements for access are.
  • Southern Health computer (SH asset)
  • Hybrid network point
  • Access rights to Pathology results, management reports etc
  • Log a job in SCS JobDesk

How can I get additional email quota?

  • Default quota is set at a soft limit of 300 MB
  • Additional disk space is available at a cost of $15 per 100MB upto a limit of 4000MB.
  • This is a one-time payment.

How can I change my spam filter settings?

Changes can be made to your spam setings at at https://messanging.its.monash.edu.au/mail/filter

The default setting is 5 stars and filter to Spam-30 folder.

If you want strict filtering (more messages filtered to your nominated spam folder), set the Star Rating to a number smaller than 5.

If you want lenient filtering (more messages delivered to your Inbox) then set the Star Rating to a number higher than 5.

Messages in Spam-30 are automatically deleted after they have been there 30 days. Spam-7 and Spam-60 work similarly, for 7 and 60 days respectively.

Whitelists and Blacklists can be set up to allow and deny individual addresses [e.g. embryo.research@nhmrc.gov.au] or entire domains [e.g. nhmrc.gov.au]

How can I check my email online?

Requirements
An active Internet connection and Web browser.

Limitations
Can not access Local Folders and Address book.

Lotus Notes
Will provide seamless interface to email, calendar and address book.


How can I access my calendar online?

Access via Web browser FireFox, Internet Explorer, Safari (Mac) at http://calendar1.monash.edu.au

What PDA devices are supported in Lotus Notes environment?

ITS expect to support the following PDA platforms

How can I request new network points?

Network points are installed by Southern Health
Department resource managers log the request via the online form: http://www.med.monash.edu.au/scs/it/form.html

Name: Customer requesting the service
Address: Full Address
Department: Name of the department
Cost Centre: SHS01-XXXXX
Cabling Network: Monash University Network (VLAN112, Research or Server Subnet) or Hybrid Network (VLAN 116)
Floor Plan: Floor Plan must be provided by the user
Location Code: Room Number or exact location details if no room number is available

Peer to Peer Applications

Use of peer-to-peer programs is not permitted on the network. http://www.policy.monash.edu/policy-bank/management/its/it-use-policy-staff-and-authorised.html
Regular network scans are conducted to search p2p programs.
Computers found with p2p programs are blocked from network access.
