He then spent many years at Peter Mac in the Physical Sciences Department where his major areas of involvement were in the medical applications of ionising radiation, including radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and radiobiological research. During this time, Raymond also completed a Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Radiology in the University of Melbourne. Raymond has a 0.8 fractional appointment in the Department and teaches the radiation safety and dosimetry components for Year 1 and Year 3 units. He also coordinates the physics, radiobiology and dosimetry units for the postgraduate entry degree of Master of Radiation Therapy. Raymond has expertise in a number of areas including radiation protection design, x-ray equipment quality assurance especially mammography, patient and foetal radiation dosimetry, and biological effects of radiation. He has assisted in training programs for cardiologists seeking radiation licenses to practice interventional radiology; he is active within the ACPSEM, which is the professional body representing medical physicists and biomedical engineers, and is Chair of its Radiation Protection Speciality Group; he is also the ACPSEM representative on the RANZCR/NATA Medical Imaging Accreditation Advisory Committee. |
