Dr Morry SilbersteinDeputy Head of Department and Associate Professor Morry completed his specialist training as a radiologist at Melbourne's Austin Hospital in 1990, followed by a research doctorate on spinal trauma imaging at Melbourne University, awarded in 1992. He was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Radiology and Radiological Anatomy at Melbourne University, and then became Head of The Department of Radiology at the University of Sydney, prior to joining Monash in 2001. Morry has a fractional 0.3 appointment in the Department and teaches Radiological Anatomy and Pathology in the first 3 years of the undergraduate Radiography program, and also supervises a number of research higher degree students in the Department. Morry is also actively involved in the Masters of Radiographic Practice, overseeing a number of units. His research interests fall into 3 main areas (see http://www.med.monash.edu.au/medicine/alfred/research/silberstein.html): functional imaging of lower limb disease, including the development of new contrast agents; the investigation of the pathophysiology of central nervous system cell injury; and the development of outcome measures for the use of cross-sectional imaging. Morry has previously been a Chairman of a State Branch of the College of Radiologists and is also currently the only medical practitioner Member of the Medical Radiation Technologists Board of Victoria." |
