Jonathan completed his radiographer training in 1986 and practised clinically until 1997 when he joined the teaching team in the School of Radiography at the University of Bradford in the UK. His clinical experience was wide culminating in charge responsibilities in Orthopaedics and Trauma and training to become one of the first UK Reporting Radiographers in 1996.

At Bradford he lead and developed the masters programme before leaving to join St Martins College (University of Lancaster) to open and develop a satellite teaching department. While in role Jonathan also represented the UK in the European Union in the development of the Higher Education Network for Radiography in Europe (HENRE). He also was chosen as a national course reviewer for the UK Quality Assurance Agency.

Following new opportunities Jonathan left the UK for New Zealand where he took up the Head of Department position in Christchurch Polytechnic. Here he helped win a bid for the development of a virtual learning platform for radiography (VIPER) and contributed to the workings of the registration body there, the MRTB.

Jonathan joined the team at Monash to bring his experience to the department in under and postgraduate arenas. He is beginning PhD studies into radiographer role development which ties in well with his other major research interest of radiographer education.
