Master of Radiographic Practice
Course overviewMaster of Radiographic Practice(General Radiography or Computed Tomography)
These courses have been designed to prepare radiographers to engage in higher level clinical decision making associated with advanced practice in the fields of general radiography and computed tomography. These courses allow radiographers to further their knowledge and skills within their area of interest and provide opportunities for those who wish to pursue advanced practitioner status and/or participate in a process of inquiry and investigation into practice issues and concerns and complete a research project of interest to them and their profession. The Masters program will facilitate high levels of supervisory, problem-solving, leadership and research skills in relation to specific technologies such as computed tomography (CT) or, in relation to general radiography, in respect to the management of digital images, patient management and advocacy and image interpretation for example in the rural and remote or accident and emergency setting. Course offering and duration
Single unit enrolment is permissible. All courses are off-campus by distance education and are delivered by web based materials provided through Monash University Studies Online (MUSO) and some hardcopy materials. Admission requirementsGraduate CertificateOpen to all accredited radiographers with at least 1 year clinical experience. Graduate Diploma and Masters programCompletion of the Graduate Certificate in Radiographic Practice or a degree in radiography and medical imaging or its equivalent. Prior to admission to the radiographic and CT units, applicants must provide evidence verifying that they are engaged in related clinical practice. Advanced standing and recognition of prior learningFor the Masters program, graduates from the Monash University four-year Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging course or equivalent may apply for advanced standing consideration of up to 24 credit points. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The same consideration may also be granted where the student is able to supply documentary evidence of completing similar studies at a university- level or equivalent institution up to three years prior to commencing study. Such applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Course Convenor and approved by the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences. Experienced non-graduate practitioners may apply for advanced standing consideration of up to 12 credit points for the Masters course. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis as described above. Up to 6 credit points may be claimed by accredited radiographers wishing to enter either the Graduate Certificate or the Graduate Diploma. International applicantsThese courses are only available for International students who wish to study from their own country. Under government regulations, international students must be enrolled on a full-time basis to study on-campus and as this is a part-time, off-campus course, international applicants cannot study the program within Australia. International applicants who wish to study any of these courses from their own country should contact the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences for further information, as they will need to satisfy strict criteria relating to English proficiency, educational qualifications and appropriate clinical practice and supervision.
