The MMedRad is a two year, full time course that commences mid year. It is offered by distance learning and provides graduates with a higher level degree and exceptional preparation for a career in Medical Radiations. The Master of Medical Radiations (MMedRad) is an accelerated master’s degree designed to facilitate entry into the Radiation Therapy and Medical Ultrasound professions.

Master of Medical Ultrasound (Course code 3433)

2013 SEMESTER 2 APPLICATIONS CLOSING DATE: Monday 10 June 2013

This distance education course is structured to enable exit at:

  • Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound
  • Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound
  • Master of Medical Ultrasound

The Graduate Certificate introduces the student to the introductory concepts of ultrasound and then enables a focus in a particular branch of clinical ultrasound. A Graduate Diploma is required to obtain accreditation with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) which will enable the successful graduate to practise as a qualified sonographer. The Masters extension of the program enables development of advanced practice and research skills. The course resources are provided mainly on-line. The material is structured to guide the student through the material on a weekly schedule with exercises that ensure the course retains a clinical focus.  This program is suited to applicants that have a clinical training position. 

Research: Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy

Research Opportunities exist for suitably qualified radiographers, radiation therapists, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists and Biomedical Science graduands through the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences in conjunction with other Departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences or with the School of Physics and Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Science.
