The Master of Medical Radiations (MMR) is an accelerated master’s degree designed to facilitate entry in the Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Medical Ultrasound professions.
The MMR is a two year, full time course that commences mid year. It is offered by distance learning and provides graduates with a higher level degree and exceptional preparation for a career in Medical Radiations. For detailed information about each of the specialist streams of study within the MMR click on the links below: APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: 15 JANUARY 2010 The Master of Medical Ultrasound is aimed at health care professionals who are working in clinical ultrasound for a minimum of three days per week and who wish to develop proficiency in the provision of medical ultrasound and further training in the area of medical ultrasound research. This course is a three year part time course offered off campus via distance education. The first two years of the course provide a sound knowledge and understanding of embryology, anatomy and pathophysiology as a solid foundation to ultrasound methodology. The areas of practice covered include abdominal, breast, thyroid, reproductive, obstetrics, musculoskeletal, paediatric, neonatal, post-operative and vascular ultrasound. The final year focuses on research skills. Student can exit this course after the appropiate number of points have been compelted with one of the following awards providing all the requirements for that reward have been met:
ResearchResearch Opportunities exist for suitably qualified radiographers and radiation therapists through the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences in conjunction with other Departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences or with the School of Physics and Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Science.
