Monash Epworth Rehabilitation Research Centre
The MERRC is jointly established with the Epworth hospital. It has a world-wide reputation for clinically relevant research examining outcomes and the impact of rehabilitation following trauma. Directed by internationally recognised Jennie Ponsford, the MERRC has a particular focus on the psychiatric, neuropsychological and psychosocial rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury and orthopaedic injury, with a view to reducing long-term disability.
Developmental Neuroscience and Genetics Disorders Laboratory
This newly established developmental neurogenetics lab will focus on genetic disorders and their molecular-brain-cognitive pathways across the lifespan. Embracing a truly interdisciplinary and developmental approach to understanding disorder across multiple levels of analysis, researchers will have access to cutting-edge technologies designed to tease apart subtle pathways of cognitive function and dysfunction in typical and atypical populations e.g. fragile x syndrome, autism etc.
MAPrc
The Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre MAPrc has a mission is to carry out world-class psychiatry research with respect, equality and understanding. The centre is based at the Alfred Hospital, a busy teaching hospital in Melbourne, Victoria, and facilitates all research that is performed within the hospital’s Department of Psychiatry. The hospital setting reflects an important aspect of what we set out to achieve: practical ‘real world’ advances that make a difference to the lives of people with mental illness and those who care for them.
CFBS
The Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS) is Australasia’s leading centre for excellence in the areas of forensic mental health and forensic behavioural science research, teaching and practice development. It is a joint centre of Monash University and the Victorian Insitute for Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare). CFBS is truly inter-disciplinary, with representation from psychiatry, psychology, social work, law, nursing, occupational therapy and epidemiology.
