Impact Factor
The impact factor is a quantitative measure of the prestige of the different journals within the scientific community, calculated by the Institute for Scientific Information. The calculation is based on the number of times a paper published in that journal is cited by other papers, within a calendar year. Members of the Systems Neuroscience group publish in high-impact journals.
Comparison of the impact factor of journals which published papers by members of the Systems Neuroscience group in 1998-2000 (top graph) and all journals listed within the Institute for Scientific InformationÕs subject categories "Physiology" and "Neuroscience" . The average Neuroscience or Physiology paper is cited only once or twice a year.
