About the Department of Physiotherapy
The Monash University Department of Physiotherapy aims to advance health and wellness through best practice in education and research in an environment that is progressive and supportive for educators and students.
We offer an innovative and exciting 4 year undergraduate Bachelor of Physiotherapy program. Students may also take an honours stream embedded within this program and complete a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) degree. This is completed within the time frames of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree during which students complete honours coursework units and a 12,000 words honours thesis.
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree is designed around case based learning and has a fully integrated curriculum that combines self-directed learning opportunities with high quality lectures and tutorials. Staff who teach into the program have either completed formal postgraduate studies in education, or have ongoing informal education in best practice in teaching.
The department was officially launched in 2007 but despite its youth is already intensely research active. Staff are committed to research informed teaching. In addition to staff research activities the department enjoys 7 PhD students, an NHMRC postdoctoral fellow and more than 30 honours students. Postgraduate coursework degrees are under development.
The department culture is one of embracing opportunities for developing staff attributes and skills. Staff are committed to exemplary professional behaviours, collaboration and support.
