Teaching Roles of the Department of Pharmacology

The Department strongly supports excellence in teaching with staff involved in teaching various aspects of pharmacology, toxicology and neuroscience to students undertaking degrees in Medicine, Science, Biomedical Science, Behavioural Neuroscience and Radiography.

PHA2022 (Drugs and Society) (semester 2)

3rd year:-
PHA3011 (Principles of Drug Action) (semester 1)
PHA3021 (Drugs in Health and Disease) (semester 1)
PHA3032 (Neuro- and Endocrine Pharmacology) (semester 2)
PHA3042 (Modern Drug Developent) (semester 2)
PHA3052 (Poisons and Toxins) (semester 2)

Major and Minor Sequences
The recommended progression for a MAJOR in Pharmacology for BSc students is:-
First Year:- BIO1011 and BIO1022 (12 points) recommended CHM1011 and CHM1022
Second Year:- Any two of PHY2011, PHY2021 or PHA2022 (12 points) recommeded co-requisites BCH2011 and BCH2022
Third Year:- PHA3011 and PHA3021 plus two of PHA3032, PHA3042 or PHA3052 (at least 24 points)

The recommeded progression for MINOR in Pharmacology for BSc Students is:-
Second Year:- Any two of PHY2011, PHY2021 or PHA2022 (12 points)
Third Year:- PHA3011 and PHA3021

Honours in Pharmacology

The Department offers 4th year Honours projects in a range of research areas including: molecular pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, neuropharmacology, venoms and toxins, and novel imaging techniques for early diagnosis
