Monash Pharmacologists awarded major prizes at two national conferences
At the annual (December) scientific meeting of the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) held in Sydney, the Percy Prize for best overall student poster presentation at the meeting was awarded to Vanessa Brait from the Vascular Pharmacology and Immunobiology Group.
Other awards presented at the meeting from Special Interests Groups (SIG) of the Society were: Cardiovascular SIG Poster Prizes awarded to Vanessa Brait and Michelle Bullen (both from the Vascular Pharmacology and Immunobiology Group); and Toxicology SIG Poster Prize awarded to Janeyuth (Shane) Chaisakul (from the Monash Venom Group).
Across the harbour at the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia (HBPRCA) annual scientific meeting, the Early Career Investigator Oral was awarded to Melanie Armitage (from the Vascular Drug Discovery Group) who will now present her work at the next British Hypertension Society meeting in Cambridge (2010).
In addition, Sonja Tesanovic (from the Intergrative Cardiovascular Pharmacology Group) was awarded the HBPRCA Student Oral Prize which means that she will present her work at the next High Blood Pressure Research meeting of the American Heart Association in Washington (2010).
