Overview of the scholarship

The Faculty Postgraduate Research Scholarship (FPRS) is a stipend / living allowance award offered to the next 20 applicants on the Faculty's scholarship order of merit list who were not offered an APA or MGS in the most recent Monash University Postgraduate Research Scholarship Round .

Nomination procedure

Students do not apply for this scholarship. Applicants in the Monash University Postgraduate Research Scholarship Round 2010 will be automatically considered.

 Benefits

The FPRS provides a living allowance paid at the same rate  as the APA and MGS ($22,500 per annum, 2010 rate), indexed annually.

 Duration

Three (3) years for doctoral candidates and 18 months for masters by research candidates. The duration will be reduced by any periods of prior study undertaken towards the degree (if applicable).

Funding arrangements

The award is equally funded by the Faculty and the enrolling academic unit.

Current Conditions of Award

Extension

Awardees are eligible to apply for a maximum extension of up to six (6) months if both the Faculty and the academic unit are agreeable and if funding is available. An extension will normally only be approved where research has been delayed by circumstances beyond the candidate's control and where such delays could not have been reasonably anticipated at the commencement of candidature. The grounds for an extension must be related to study and not of a personal nature.
