Faculty Postgraduate Excellence ScholarshipOverview of the scholarship The Faculty Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship is a ‘top up' award offered to the top 10 new scholarship recipients who have demonstrated outstanding academic merit in the most recent Monash University Postgraduate Research Scholarship Round. Nomination procedure Students do not apply for this scholarship. Applicants in the Monash University Postgraduate Research Scholarship Round 2010 will be automatically considered. Benefits The Faculty Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship provides a $5000 annual ‘top-up' to the recipient's APA (or equivalent, including NHMRC and Cancer Council Victoria scholarships). Duration Three (3) years for doctoral candidates and 18 months for masters by research candidates. The duration will be reduced by any periods of prior study undertaken towards the degree (if applicable). Funding arrangements The award is fully funded by the Faculty. Current conditions of award Faculty Postgraduate Excellence Conditions for 2010 (pdf, 26 KB) Extension Awardees are eligible to apply for a maximum extension of up to six (6) months if both the Faculty and the academic unit are agreeable and if funding is available. An extension will normally only be approved where research has been delayed by circumstances beyond the candidate's control and where such delays could not have been reasonably anticipated at the commencement of candidature. The grounds for an extension must be related to study and not of a personal nature.
