Outpatient Services

A Range of Paediatric Outpatient Services are provided by MMC including general and specialist clinics.

Outptients are intended to care for children and their families in the following situations:-

• Follow-up of inpatient discharges
• Complex or multiple problems requiring a multi-disciplinary approach
• Where interpreters are required

In general, patients will be discharged back to the care of local medical practitioners and/or paediatricians whenever possible for long-term follow-up.

New referrals are accepted from medical practitioners, community nurses and other health workers.

A booking will be made and details forwarded to the patient by mail. Urgent referrals should be discussed with the head of the unit involved. Patients who have attended outpatients for the same problem within the last 6 months may obtain an appointment by phoning 9550-2372/3.

Referrals to the Genetics Clinic can be made directly with Genetic Health Services Victoria on 95942009.
