Course Structure - Year 4Semester 7HSC3032 Community partnerships and capacity The unit will examine the importance of engagement in social and democratic processes and the role of community participation in health development. The principles of community and organisational development will be examined in relation to a range of Australian and international case studies and contemporary issues. OCC4071 Participatory community practice 2: implementation In this unit students implement and operationalise the project proposal generated in Participatory Community Practice: Development. There will be a focus on knowledge and skills associated with the prevention of ill health, and concepts related to health promotion such as community development, empowerment and capacity building. OCC4081 Transition to practice 1 This unit seeks to equip students for transition to practice by introducing them to organisational analysis and the skills required to enter the work force as a professional practitioner.
Semester 8OCC4082 Advanced professional practice Students consolidate intervention skills learnt throughout the course during a ten-week full-time fieldwork practicum. A learning contract underpins the selection decision of the student concerning suitable agencies in which to undertake this placement. OCC4092 Transition to practice 2 The unit explores the mechanisms that organisations use to ensure that health care provision meets required quality standards. It includes issues of organisational governance from a multidisciplinary perspective and students will present their research and project work at a multidisciplinary conference.
