Semester 5

OCC3030  Enabling occupation: performance challenges IB

This is the second unit of the occupational therapy intervention units. In this unit students further describe, apply, and critique the principles of assessment and intervention for individual and groups of clients who are restricted in their ability to engage in activities, occupations, and participation in community life. It includes a 5-week fieldwork placement.

OCC3041 Skills for evidenced-based practice 2

This unit provides an advanced overview of the skills necessary to critique and evaluate research evidence to answer a question. This will provide the foundation for students to be able to integrate clinically relevant evidence into their daily professional practice as well as providing skills required for critiquing the evidence in scenario based learning in the unit OCC3030.

Elective

Students are able to choose a unit from a wide range of elective options.

 

Semester 6

OCC3052 Enabling occupation II: performance challenges in population health

This unit moves beyond the occupational challenges facing individuals, to consider the ways in which the occupations, health and wellbeing of communities/populations may be impacted by social, political and organizational factors. Project management/evaluation and organizational behaviour are studied with emphasis on the social responsibility of service planning, resource allocation, community partnerships and service development.

HSC2072 Health promotion

This unit introduces the principles and practice of contemporary health promotion, providing the foundation for planning, implementing and evaluating health, social and environmental change programs to prevent illness and promote health. 

OCC3062 Participatory community practice 1: development

Students scope an organisationally useful project for a community agency fieldwork site. They will develop skills in project design and working within a community partnership model to address a community/population health based issue for the collaborating agency.
