Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a clinical department of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University, and a member of the Monash Institute of Medical Research. The department is principally located at eight sites (Monash Medical Centre, Alfred Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Box Hill Hospital, Frankston Mornington Peninsula Hospital, Sandringham Hospital and William Angliss Hospital) with strategic rural associations in Gippsland through the Centre for Rural Health.

The Department has significant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching responsibilities, supervising students in Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. The Department also has an innovative undergraduate medical curriculum and is the co-ordinating centre for the development of a National Curriculum in undergraduate Women’s Health.

The Research activities of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaeocology are undertaken within the Centre for Women’s Health Research. The Centre for Women’s Health Research is also a Research Centre within the Monash Institute of Medical Research.
