Dr Rosalind Lau is a registered nurse, midwife and a trained neonatal nurse. She was a research nurse for five years at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne and was involved in several projects including randomized controlled trials, cross-over, case control and cohort studies as well as cross-sectional surveys.  She was a Research Assistant at Victoria University, Melbourne for two years and worked on several large surveys on ageing. She joined Monash University in August 2006. Her major contribution is in health psychology, particularly in stress, coping and social support in the field of neonatal nursing. She has published several papers on stress experiences of parents of preterm infants, neonatal resuscitation and ventilation and also health and wellbeing of older people. She has also published two book chapters on stress experiences and ageing issues. Her major interests are statistics and public health research and she has considerable experience in study design, database management and analysis of large data sets.
