Biography

Rebecca has an extensive clinical background in critical care nursing.  Over the last 12 years she has been working in various nursing education roles both institutional and tertiary, and as a consultant in the private sector. In March 2009 Rebecca joined Monash University as a Lecturer after 8 years with the University of Canberra teaching in the  undergraduate program and convening the Graduate Diploma of Critical Care Nursing.  Rebecca has established a number of Dedicated Education Units (DEU's) as part of the UC DEU project.

Rebecca was a member of the Nurse and Midwifery Board of the ACT for 2 terms of office and during that time managed the complaints process and under new legislation established and chaired the Board's Professional Standards Committee.

Rebecca is currently a professional member for disciplinary hearings of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT).

Rebecca is involved in the ARC funded Inter-professional Learning (IPL) project in the ACT and is a member of the executive management group.

Rebecca has previously been the Chair of the Royal College of Nursing Australia (RCNA) ACT chapter and the education portfolio committee member of the NSW/ACT branch of the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses (ACCCN).

Research

  • Ethical practice;
  • inter-professional learning and practice;
  • critical care practice; and,
  • undergraduate work integrated learning.

Rebecca is a PhD candidate researching in the area of inter-professional undergraduate work integrated learning.
