Dr Jennifer NewtonEdD, BA(Hons) Nsg Ed, RCNT, RM, RNSenior Research Fellow
Dr Jenny Newton joined the School of Nursing & Midwifery in 2000 with an extensive background in teaching nursing, with an undergraduate degree in this field. She has a rich breadth of experience in acute care nursing practice, education and research gained both within Australia and England. Over recent years she has developed strong collaborative links both nationally and internationally through her current research and engagement in reflective practice, workplace learning and practice development. Her research experience and supervision of projects spans a diverse range across acute care, palliative care and aged care nursing. Jenny is a highly experienced qualitative researcher with particular interest in phemenology, ethnomethodology, descriptive research, and action research. She has secured, with colleagues, over $600,000 in research funding on competitive grants and tenders in educational and acute care research. Jenny is currently seconded to the School of Primary Health Care as project manager for two Department of Health and Ageing projects on Chronic Disease Self Management and Lifestyle Risk Modification. She is on the Editorial Board for Journal of Health Professions Education, the International Advisory Board for Reflective Practice journal and a reviewer for Collegian, Vocations & Learning and Medical Education journals.
