Practice Development Methodologies and Implementation - MPD5001

Master of Practice Development Single Unit Enrolment July - November 2009

Unit Aims:

• In this unit students will study a variety of philosophies that provide the methodological foundations for practice development. 
• It will include analysis of the different approaches to practice development and evaluation of the effectiveness of practice development. 
• The students will be assisted in the development of their understanding and application of practice development within the own workplace setting.

Entry Requirements:

• Division One Registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria; and a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.

Course Delivery Mode:

• Mixed Mode comprising  - Four days (2 days x 2 sessions) on campus interactive seminar sessions
  
  Session 1 - July 23rd & July 24th
  Session 2 - Sept 3rd & Sept 4th
  
• Online resources will also be used as an interactive medium for students and staff

Assessment:

Assessment: Applied Case Study (40%) Theoretical Essay (60%)  (Subject to approval)

Recognition:

This unit is equivalent to 12 Credit Points in the Master of Nursing (MN), Master of Clinical Midwifery (MCM) or Master of Practice Development (MPD). Previous and future participants of the course may apply for academic credit upon enrolling in a MN, MCM or MPD at Monash University. Credit for non-nursing, non-Monash courses are subject to approval from individual course co-ordinators.
